Back To School Drive
Each summer, the Downtown Sarasota Alliance hosts its annual Back to School Drive to help local students start the school year prepared. Participating DSA member businesses place collection boxes in their locations where visitors can donate new school supplies.
Throughout the drive, the Alliance and our members promote the effort to encourage community participation. At the end of the collection period, all donated supplies are gathered and given to a local organization that distributes them to students in need.
Community Impact
We encourage the donation of new school supplies, including:

Backpacks, Notebooks, Pens and pencils, Highlighters, Folders and binders, Calculators, Pencil cases, Loose leaf paper, Art supplies.
These everyday items can make a big difference for students preparing for the school year.
In 2025, collected supplies were donated to First United Methodist Church, which helped distribute them to the teacher’s closet at Booker Middle School.
Together, we’re helping ensure students in our community have the tools they need to succeed.
